The project Eikon  objective is to focus on the ‘life’ of portraits in ancient sculptures, meaning  a historical and spatial contextualisation from the first exposition to the last use. In order to investigate this, analytical tools have been built such as a relational database. This database combine three  layers of data, ‘monuments’, ‘sculptures’ and ‘inscriptions’ referring to portraits. The need of a visual tool to help crossing the data on ancient site soon came to us. GIS solutions have been developed and tested for a limited case study of Delos. One solution is in collaboration with the EfA (Ecole française d’Athènes). The EfA have develop an online GIS (based on Geoserver) and is aim to store archaeological data on Delos. All ready a set of Eikon data has been share. The second solution is a dedicated online GIS develop upon MySQL database, PHP, Javascript and third party scripts and APIs for the web interface and the management / visualisation of geographical data.
